Let me start off by saying, WOW! St. John is such a beautiful tropical destination. After being hit by hurricane Irma & Maria in 2017, the businesses have done their job to renovate and re-open. There were still some restaurants and hotels that were still heavily affected, but the beaches are clean and the water is clear!
Our vacation began with a red-eye flight from LAX > BOS on JetBlue. JetBlue has some of the nicest planes I have ever seen! I am an avid Southwest flyer, but it was sure a treat to get an assigned seat with some extra legroom and TV for this longer flight. Once we landed in Boston, Ben (my fiancé) grabbed some Dunkin’ and off we were to the connecting flight. Our next leg was BOS > STT. It was a fairly quick flight, but let me tell you… the airport on St. Thomas is hot! Be sure to bring a sundress or a pair of shorts to change into once you step off the plane. After hours of flying, we took a small catamaran to St. John to begin our vacation! I would recommend taking a seasickness pill prior to the boat just in case. We experienced a bit of a bumpy 15-minute boat ride, but I wasn’t affected…THANK GOODNESS!
While in St. John, we stayed at the Westin Resort & Villas. The villa included a full kitchen – great for those nights when you don’t feel like going out! Each villa has a pool & grill area with a great view. I highly recommend booking a room with a kitchen and/or grill area. As a homebody, going out to breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day can be a bit much for me – so having a space to make my own meals is super nice!
