This post is going up late because my decor went up late. Oh well! Even though Thanksgiving is now over and I am prepping for Christmas, I wanted to show everyone the cute decor I had this year for my new home! I chose to focus my decorations this year in the stairwell, as well in the living and dining space since my collection is on the smaller side.
Here are some of my tips if you are trying to decorate on a budget:
- Shop at stores prior to the season you are shopping for. For example, I bought the majority of my Thanksgiving decor before Halloween. Many stores will put out pumpkin decor with the Halloween items since they work for both holidays.
- Choose pumpkins & fall decor over purely Halloween or Thanksgiving specific decor. This means you will have a beautiful fall-themed home for a full 2 months instead of 1, and you don’t have to replace skulls and witches with cornucopias and pilgrim hats.
- Only splurge on items you actually care about. There are lots of bloggers who will show everything they bought (or were sent) for decorations and it can definitely be overwhelming. Make a list of things you know you want, then look to blogs and online retailers to fill in that list. If you start with bloggers you love, chances are you will find more than what you are looking for and overspend.

Happy Thanksgiving! Here are some cherished moments from this year spent with family.
